Babe is sad to see the holiday season end, and sadder still that after all the fun food and parties, she can't get her jeans up over her calves -- self-restraint isn't her strong suit. Babe despises dieting and New Year's resolutions, but she is vowing to get healthy for the sake of her denim collection, which doesn't deserve to spend the rest of the winter buried in a trunk. She's got a few things on her bookshelf to aid in this endeavor. Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin, the ladies who brought you Skinny Bitch, have a fun new cookbook chockfull of easy vegan recipes. As a brunch fanatic, Babe is partial to the pecan-crusted french toast. Another good read (and not all vegan) is Integrative Nutrition by Joshua Rosenthal. There's no profanity, which sucks, but you can learn all sorts of good stuff about how to tailor nutrition to your individual needs. If Babe is feeling REALLY gross, she looks to Natalia Rose's The Raw Food Detox Diet to get back on track. Although she's pretty sure after a month of that, she'll be back to scarfing down cupcakes and guzzling cocktails...being too perfect is awfully tedious and tends to leave the inbox empty of happy hour invites!
