Nourishment
May 7, 2009

Babe has always been more of a salt-aholic than a cookie monster, so she tends to splurge on french fries, potato chips and the like. From time to time, she does like to visit the candy aisle, especially prior to taking in a film. Snickers and Twix are forbidden for any strict vegan, but just in time for the summer movie season, Go Max Go Foods is launching a line of candy bars ($2.49 each at veganstore.com) that mimic some of those classic treats. Jokerz is a Snickers-like bar made of chocolate, caramel and peanut nougat, while the Mahalo, reminiscent of Almond Joy, combines coconut, almond and chocolate. Buccaneer and Twilight are created with a chocolate nougat base in the vein of Three Musketeers and Milky Way, respectively. If you're having a candy craving that needs immediate satisfaction, fear not: you can find many "accidentally vegan" sweets in any drugstore, such as Mambas and Swedish Fish. Check PETA's "I Can't Believe it's Vegan!" list for more.
